The young embroiderers have been busy again and produced these magnificent rag wreaths at their meeting on 1st February under the direction of Dee Newson and Sue Carine

Greek Folio
Just one of the perks of being a member of the Embroiderers Guild must be
access to their folios and thanks must go to Sheila for arranging to have the Greek folio for us to examine, admire, discuss and use as an inspiration for our own work on the January workshop. Thanks also to Theresa who researched Greek embroidery and gave us an insight into the vast array and variety of embroidery in Greece.
These are some if the pieces that were available to us:
Following a great deal of discussion about how this beautiful work was executed and the exact stitch that was used and lots of experimental work we all came up with very different design ideas. It was a great opportunity to see this collection at close quarters.

The children used sewing machines to make cushions or bags of their own design from fabrics previously dyed at their meeting on 11th January

At the meeting on 7th December 2013 the children made felt robins. There was a choice of two patterns available giving a greater degree of difficulty
