Not a Crinoline Lady

The members of the Embroiderers Guild put their talents into creating these fantastic 'ladies' at a recent workshop led by Liz.  It was a fun and relaxing day with lots of shared fabric and ideas resulting in many  different pieces of work.

Y.E. made pieces of felt and then made some of the felt into cactus pin cushions.

25th Anniversary Celebration on 16th May, 2014 at Milntown, Ramsey

Pictured above are the current officials in the 25th year  they are :  Chair - Helen Sargent, Treasurer - Theresa Saxon and Secretary - Sheila Dove.  Monica Selway who is the North West Regional Chair made a special journey to join in with the Isle of Man celebrations.

Kelly's Workshop

Kelly tutored a wonderful workshop on 17th May, which was to assemble a bag.  The first part of the workshop was to stitch the four pockets which are situated on the outside of the bag.  Everyone enjoyed the challenge and the majority of the bags were finished on the day.

It was lovely to have Monica Selway join us on the workshop.  She stayed over after joining us for our 25th Anniversary celebration meal at Milntown.

Inspired by Knox

Maureen was inspired by the workshop lead by Nicola Dixon to produce this wonderful bag to hold her musical instruments. The Knox design was transferred onto red felt and words associated with Knox were embroidered on to black felt and made into a bag.

Stitched Journeys - Janet Browne

An inspiring workshop was held last week when Janet Browne came to the island and shared her knowledge and experience - not holding back any secrets. Some really nice pieces were produced - some were even finished on the day! Janet encouraged everyone to go on and produce bigger pieces and gave lots of practical advice on how to do this ... so watch this space. The first few photographs are samples to show how to progress the work and the smaller pieces were done by workshop participants on the day.
